Odisha Governor Hails Swachh Bharat Movement

Swachh Bharat Initiative Has Become Nationwide Movement: Odisha Governor

Bhubaneswar, Sep 17: The Swachh Bharat initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014 has grown into a nationwide movement, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Swachhata Abhiyan campaign held at Rama Devi Women’s University here, the Governor said, “Mahatma Gandhi emphasized the importance of cleanliness, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has translated that vision into action.”

He stressed that cleanliness should not be restricted to a single day in a year but must be practiced continuously—every month, every week, and, if possible, every day.

Underscoring the significance of a clean environment, Dr. Kambhampati remarked, “Keeping our neighbourhood clean is, in fact, keeping ourselves clean. Cleanliness helps prevent many health problems and promotes overall well-being.”

During the programme, the Governor paid floral tribute to the statue of Rama Devi, joined students in a campus cleaning drive, and planted saplings to mark the occasion.

Expressing his delight at participating, he urged students to adopt cleanliness initiatives as an integral part of their daily lives.
