SP Protests in Amethi Over Posters Targeting Akhilesh Yadav

The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Wednesday staged protests in Amethi against controversial posters and hoardings allegedly targeting party chief Akhilesh Yadav, demanding immediate police action against those responsible.

Party leaders and workers submitted a memorandum to local police authorities, accusing unidentified persons of putting up “Dhurandhar”-inspired posters aimed at maligning the image of the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. They warned that failure to act promptly would trigger a larger agitation across the region.

SP leaders described the incident as a deliberate attempt to create political tension and defame the party leadership. They urged the administration to identify and penalise those involved at the earliest.

Meanwhile, in Sambhal, SP Member of Parliament Zia-ur-Rahman Barq termed the episode a “well-planned conspiracy” and called for strict legal action. He alleged that such acts were intended to disturb the political atmosphere and target opposition leaders.

Police officials said they have received the complaint and are examining the matter. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.

The incident has sparked political reactions in parts of Uttar Pradesh, with SP workers asserting that they will intensify protests if the culprits are not brought to justice soon.
