President Murmu pays tribute to Guru Tegh Bahadur on eve of Martyrdom Day

President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday paid homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur on the eve of his Martyrdom Day, recalling his supreme sacrifice and timeless contributions to humanity, justice and religious freedom.

In her message, the President said she offered her “humble tribute” to the ninth Sikh Guru on the occasion of his 350th martyrdom day.

“Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji sacrificed his life to preserve the ideals of righteousness, humanity and truth. His valour, sacrifice and selfless service are a source of inspiration for everyone,” President Murmu said.

She added that the Guru’s teachings continue to guide the nation toward justice, courage and moral fortitude.

“Let us adopt his values in our lives and work to strengthen harmony and unity in our country,” the President said, urging citizens to imbibe his message of peace, inclusivity and unwavering commitment to the welfare of all.

Guru Tegh Bahadur, revered as ‘Hind di Chadar’, is remembered for laying down his life to uphold the fundamental right to religious freedom, making his martyrdom a landmark chapter in Indian history.
