PM urges human-centric global tech framework

PM calls for human-centric tech, global AI compact at G20 session

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the third session of the G20 Summit, themed “A Fair and a Just Future for All – Critical Minerals; Decent Work; Artificial Intelligence,” urging member nations to rethink how emerging technologies are developed and deployed across the world.

Calling for a fundamental shift in promoting critical technologies, the Prime Minister said they must be human-centric rather than finance-centric, global rather than national, and built on open-source models instead of exclusive frameworks. He noted that India has already integrated this vision into its own technology ecosystem, enabling major advancements in areas such as space, AI and digital payments.

India’s AI approach: equitable, inclusive, responsible

Highlighting India’s strategy on Artificial Intelligence, the Prime Minister said it rests on equitable access, population-level skilling and responsible deployment. Under the India-AI Mission, the country is building accessible high-performance computing infrastructure to ensure the benefits of AI reach every citizen.

He called for a global AI compact founded on principles of transparency, human oversight, safety-by-design and safeguards against misuse. “While AI should expand human capabilities, the final decision must always lie with humans,” he stressed.

The Prime Minister announced that India will host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026, themed ‘Sarvajanam Hitaya, Sarvajanam Sukhaya’ (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), and invited all G20 nations to participate.

Focusing on future capabilities

In the age of AI, the Prime Minister said countries must shift their focus from “jobs of today” to “capabilities of tomorrow.” Building on initiatives launched during the New Delhi G20 Summit, he proposed that the group work toward developing a Global Framework for Talent Mobility in the coming years.

India’s message to the world

Reiterating India’s commitment to global well-being, the Prime Minister said the country stands for sustainable development, trusted trade, fair finance and progress that benefits all.

He added that India will continue championing inclusive growth and technological cooperation for a just and equitable global future.
