Odisha DGP Felicitates 41 Sportspersons on National Sports Day
Bhubaneswar, Aug 29 – Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Yogesh Bahadur Khurania on Thursday felicitated 41 outstanding sportspersons of the state police on the occasion of National Sports Day, celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.
Addressing the felicitation ceremony at R.K. Padhi Memorial Hall, Cuttack IPS Mess, Khurania praised the sportspersons for their extraordinary talent and contribution, noting that their achievements have significantly enhanced the reputation of Odisha Police across the country.
He expressed confidence that the recognition would inspire young athletes in the force and across the state to take up sports seriously and aim for greater milestones.
Highlighting recent international success, the DGP lauded seven Odisha Police athletes who excelled at the World Police and Fire Games in Birmingham, USA, where they created history by securing 13 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze medals, bringing immense pride to the state and its police force.
Khurania said he hoped more sportspersons from Odisha Police would continue to participate and shine in both national and international arenas, thereby further enhancing the organization’s prestige.
During the event, the DGP presented awards and cash prizes to the 41 sportspersons, wishing them a bright and successful future. The ceremony was attended by senior police officials of the state.
