Odisha CM Appears Before ‘Demon King’ Kansa During Dhanu Jatra in Bargarh
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday made a symbolic appearance before the “court of demon king Kansa” during the annual Dhanu Jatra festival in Bargarh, using the unique cultural मंच to highlight his government’s development initiatives in the district.
Participating in the world’s largest open-air theatre, the Chief Minister informed the mythical ruler about 123 development projects worth ₹1,362 crore that have been launched for Bargarh district by his government. The interaction formed part of the traditional narrative enacted during Dhanu Jatra, which depicts episodes from the life of Lord Krishna and the eventual defeat of King Kansa.
Riding an elephant, Majhi arrived at the ‘Darbar’ (royal court) of Kansa, a key attraction of the festival. In keeping with the tradition, the demon king questioned the Chief Minister about the steps taken for the development of Mathura Nagari.
