OAS Officers Suspend Protest After Assurance

OAS Officers Put ‘Mass Leave’ Protest on Hold Following CM’s Assurance of Action
The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers have put their proposed ‘mass leave’ protest on hold after receiving assurance from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi regarding strict action against those involved in the alleged assault of a senior OAS officer.
The protest, originally scheduled to begin on Tuesday, was called off late Monday night following a meeting between the OAS Association and the Chief Minister. The Association had earlier announced that its members would go on mass leave to protest the alleged manhandling of a senior officer on Monday.
In an official statement, OAS Association president Jyoti Ranjan Mishra said, “The Hon’ble Chief Minister has assured us that strong and exemplary action will be taken against all culprits involved in the incident, irrespective of their influence or position. The culprits and the perpetrators behind the scene, however powerful they may be, shall be strictly punished as per stringent provisions of law.”
The association emphasized that while they are committed to maintaining administrative responsibilities, they cannot remain silent when the dignity and security of officers are under threat.
The alleged assault incident has sparked outrage within administrative circles, prompting widespread concern about the safety and working conditions of government officials.
Following the CM’s assurance, the OAS officers have decided to temporarily suspend their protest and resume their duties, awaiting the outcome of the promised investigation and action.
Meanwhile, opposition parties and civil society groups have called for a fair and transparent inquiry into the matter, urging the government to ensure that such incidents do not recur.
The state government has yet to release an official statement detailing the progress of the inquiry or identifying the individuals involved in the alleged assault.
