NHRC to Commemorate Human Rights Day with National Conference in New Delhi
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India will host a Human Rights Day function at Auditorium 1, Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on 10th December 2025. The event will be graced by President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, who will address the gathering as the Chief Guest. Human Rights Day is observed annually to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) of 1948, one of the most widely referenced human rights documents globally.
Following the function, a National Conference themed “Ensuring Everyday Essentials: Public Services and Dignity for All” will be held, aligning with this year’s Human Rights Day theme, “Human Rights, Our Everyday Essentials.” The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. P. K. Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, who will also serve as the Chief Guest for the Conference.
The conference will feature two thematic sessions with discussions on ensuring universal, equitable, and dignified access to public services as a cornerstone of human rights. Eminent speakers from various sectors will address the sessions, highlighting strategies for improving service delivery and promoting human dignity.
Participants will include State Human Rights Commissions, national commissions, government officials, human rights defenders, civil society representatives, academicians, professionals, and media personnel.
The NHRC has opened online registration for attendees until 10:00 am on 9th December 2025 at . Registered participants will receive e-invites via email for entry to the venue.
This annual event underscores India’s commitment to advancing human rights, highlighting the vital role of public services in promoting dignity, equality, and social justice.
