JSP to Double Capacity of Angul Plant in a Year: Naveen Jindal

Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) is set to significantly expand its Angul facility in Odisha, with plans to increase its production capacity from the current 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 12 MTPA by next year. This announcement was made by JSP Chairman Naveen Jindal on Tuesday.

Speaking to reporters in Bhubaneswar, Jindal emphasized the company’s commitment to Odisha’s industrial and economic development. “JSP is committed to Odisha’s industrial and economic development, and it will work in partnership with the government to achieve that goal,” he stated.

Jindal, who was leading a delegation from the Indian Steel Association, had met with the newly appointed Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi. During the meeting, Jindal discussed JSP’s ambitious plans for the state, including a long-term vision to construct the world’s largest steel plant in Angul with a capacity of 25 MTPA within the next six years.

The expansion project is expected to bolster JSP’s position in the steel industry, enhance production capabilities, and contribute significantly to the local economy by creating jobs and fostering development. The move aligns with JSP’s broader strategy to scale up its operations and meet the growing demand for steel both domestically and internationally.

As JSP prepares for this major expansion, it underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability, and collaboration with the Odisha government to drive industrial growth in the region.
