India emerges as one of the leading contributors to aviation emissions among economically developing countries, according to a recent study conducted in 2019. The research, which provides insights into carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from aviation, underscores the country’s significant role in the global carbon footprint of air travel.

Using comprehensive data on global flight patterns, researchers conducted a meticulous analysis to gauge the real-time impact of aviation emissions. The findings reveal that while the United States, China, and Great Britain dominated the list of top contributors, India emerged as the third-largest emitter among economically developing nations.

With approximately three percent of the global CO2 emissions from aviation attributed to India, the country follows closely behind China, which accounts for 14 percent, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a share exceeding three percent. This revelation highlights the growing environmental concerns associated with air travel in rapidly developing economies like India.
