India Launches Hundreds of Satellites Globally

India Launches Hundreds of Foreign and Domestic Satellites in Last Two Decades

India has successfully launched a significant number of foreign and domestic satellites over the last 20 years, reflecting the country’s growing presence in the global space sector.

According to a response in Parliament, between January 2004 and December 2013, India launched 31 foreign satellites and 23 domestic satellites. The period from January 2014 to November 2025 saw a substantial increase, with 398 foreign satellites and 56 domestic satellites launched.

The government highlighted the role of M/s. New Space India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of ISRO, which was incorporated in 2019. NSIL has generated approximately INR 2,572 crore in revenue from launch services between FY 2019-20 and FY 2024-25, while incurring expenses of around INR 1,985 crore.

The report also noted that the global launch service market has become highly competitive, and NSIL continues to make efforts to sustain and expand its share in this market.

This growth underscores India’s advancing capabilities in space technology and its commitment to supporting international and domestic satellite missions.
