Goods train derails near Cuttack station

Three Wagons of Goods Train Derail in Odisha’s Cuttack, No Injuries Reported

Three empty wagons of a goods train derailed near the Cuttack railway station yard on Monday morning, officials confirmed. The incident occurred around 8:30 am and disrupted operations on the loop line, though no casualties were reported.

A senior railway official said the derailment took place within the yard limits, and the affected wagons had jumped the tracks. “Thankfully, the wagons were empty, and there were no injuries to railway personnel or others nearby,” the official added.

Railway authorities promptly responded by deploying a relief train equipped with cranes, repair materials, and a dedicated crew. Restoration work on the loop line is currently underway and expected to be completed at the earliest.

The cause of the derailment is being investigated. While mainline train services remained largely unaffected, some minor delays in yard operations were reported.
