CM Majhi Hails GST Reforms Boost

GST Reforms Welcome Change, Will Boost Swadeshi Goods Consumption: Odisha CM
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday hailed the GST reforms announced by the Centre, calling them a transformative step that will strengthen the economy and encourage the consumption of swadeshi goods and services.
The GST Council, comprising the Centre and state representatives, decided to reduce tax rates on a range of goods and services starting September 22 — coinciding with the first day of Navratri.
“Today, 22nd September 2025, is getting etched in history as an iconic date as Bharat rolls out the Next-Generation GST reforms under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shree Narendra Modi Ji,” Majhi wrote in a post on X.
He added that the reforms would not only bring relief to consumers but also foster a resilient economy by boosting demand for domestically produced goods.
The Odisha CM said the move reflects the Centre’s commitment to “ease of living” and “ease of doing business,” while empowering local industries and strengthening cooperative federalism through consensus-driven decisions of the GST Council.
Observers believe the reduction in GST rates will provide a much-needed push to the manufacturing and services sectors, helping accelerate economic growth during the festive season.
