‘Border 2’ crosses Rs 200 crore mark at domestic box office in five days

Sunny Deol-starrer Border 2 has crossed the Rs 200-crore milestone at the domestic box office within five days of its release, reaffirming the actor’s enduring mass appeal.

According to the makers, the film collected Rs 23.31 crore on its fifth day, taking its total net domestic earnings to Rs 216.79 crore. The war drama sequel hit theatres on January 23.

Border 2 is a sequel to the 1997 blockbuster Border, which went on to become one of the most iconic war films in Indian cinema. The new installment has witnessed strong footfalls across single screens and multiplexes alike, driven by positive word-of-mouth and nostalgia surrounding the original.

Backed by T-Series and J P Films, the film opened to robust numbers and has maintained steady momentum through the weekday period. Trade analysts attribute the strong performance to the Republic Day weekend boost and the film’s patriotic theme, which continues to resonate with audiences.
