Bombay HC restrains script theft allegations

Bombay HC Restrains Filmmaker Over ‘Dhurandhar’ Script Theft Claim
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday issued an interim order restraining filmmaker Santosh Kumar from repeating allegations that director Aditya Dhar stole the script of his blockbuster film Dhurandhar.
The order came after Dhar approached the court, contending that Kumar’s repeated public statements accusing him of script theft were defamatory and causing serious harm to his professional reputation.
Hearing the plea, the court directed Kumar to refrain from making or publishing any further allegations against Dhar regarding the film’s script until further orders. The interim relief aims to prevent potential reputational damage while the matter is under judicial consideration.
Dhar, known for his work in the Hindi film industry, argued that the claims were baseless and malicious, and sought legal protection against what he described as a sustained campaign to defame him.
The case is expected to come up for further hearing, where the court will examine the merits of the allegations and responses from both parties.
The development has drawn attention within the film industry, highlighting ongoing concerns around intellectual property rights and defamation in creative fields.
