BJD to observe Biju Patnaik’s 29th death anniversary across Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) will observe the 29th death anniversary of legendary leader and former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik across all Assembly constituencies in Odisha with a series of commemorative programmes.

Senior party Vice-President Debi Prasad Mishra informed that local party units have been instructed to organise events under the banner of “Prabada Purusha Divas” to honour the towering leader.

As part of the observance, programmes will include traditional rituals such as Tila Tarpana, garlanding of statues of Biju Patnaik, distribution of fruits to the needy and patients in hospitals and organisation of blood donation camps.

The party has also directed its units to hold intellectual discussions highlighting Biju Patnaik’s contribution to India’s freedom struggle and his role in shaping modern Odisha. Leaders from various frontal organisations of the party will assist in conducting the events smoothly.

At the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar, similar programmes will be organised. The day will begin with Tila Tarpana at Bindusagar, followed by garlanding of the leader’s statue and distribution of fruits to patients.

An intellectual discussion will also be held at Sankha Bhawan, the party office, said Bhubaneswar District President and former minister Ashok Panda.

Through these events, the BJD aims to pay tribute to Biju Patnaik while remembering his enduring legacy and contributions to the state and the nation.
