PM GatiShakti reviews 352 infra projects

PM GatiShakti group reviews 352 projects worth ₹16.10 lakh crore

The Network Planning Group (NPG) under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan has evaluated 352 infrastructure projects of the Central Government with a total estimated cost of ₹16.10 lakh crore, Parliament was informed on Monday.

Out of the projects reviewed so far, 201 have been sanctioned, of which 167 are currently under implementation. The evaluation process under PM GatiShakti focuses on integrated and data-driven planning, multimodal and inter-modal connectivity, synchronisation of efforts, last-mile connectivity and comprehensive development in and around project locations.

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, said the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, launched in October 2021, provides a transformative framework for infrastructure planning and development across the country.

He also informed that the Ministry of Finance, through the Department of Expenditure, has provided ₹5,000 crore to states for infrastructure development in the form of 50-year interest-free loans under Part-II of the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment for 2022–23, specifically linked to PM GatiShakti-related expenditure.

Monitoring of central sector infrastructure projects costing ₹150 crore and above is being carried out by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI). From July 2025 onwards, detailed flash reports on project status, including cost overruns, are being published on the PAIMANA portal.

In addition, the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) has been set up to expedite the execution of large infrastructure projects with an estimated cost of ₹500 crore and above. The PMG follows a five-tier escalation framework to resolve issues, with complex matters being escalated to the PRAGATI forum.

The integration of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan with the PMG has helped fast-track project execution by addressing regulatory and implementation bottlenecks, the minister added.
