Vice-President inaugurates NCC Republic Day Camp

Vice-President lauds NCC’s nation-building role at Republic Day Camp 2026
Vice-President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan on Monday attended the inauguration of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Republic Day Camp 2026 at the DGNCC Camp here as the Chief Guest, and praised the NCC for its enduring contribution to nation-building and youth development.
Extending New Year greetings to the cadets, the Vice-President said that in its 78th year, the NCC has emerged as the world’s largest uniformed youth organisation, steadfastly nurturing disciplined, responsible and patriotic citizens. He described the Republic Day Camp as a powerful symbol of India’s faith in its youth and its collective commitment to building a strong and united nation.
Highlighting the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline”, Shri Radhakrishnan said the organisation continues to mould confident, values-driven youth who form the backbone of Viksit Bharat@2047. Referring to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said the journey towards a developed and Aatmanirbhar Bharat depends on skilled, disciplined and service-oriented youth, a role in which the NCC plays a vital part.
Recalling the contribution of NCC cadets during Operation Sindoor, the Vice-President said nearly 72,000 cadets volunteered for civil defence duties, demonstrating courage, commitment and readiness to serve the nation in times of need.
Emphasising the significance of Republic Day, he said the NCC Republic Day Camp reflects constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, as cadets from different states and Union Territories live and train together, embodying the spirit of national unity.
He also praised NCC cadets for their achievements in adventure activities, international youth exchange programmes, environmental initiatives and disaster relief efforts, including their commendable service during the Wayanad floods in Kerala.
Welcoming the modernisation of NCC training, including the introduction of cyber and drone training and the establishment of a Remote Pilot Training Academy, Shri Radhakrishnan said such initiatives would prepare youth to meet emerging technological and security challenges. He placed on record his appreciation for the dedication of NCC officers, instructors and staff in shaping young minds.
Earlier, the Vice-President inspected a Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets, visited the Hall of Fame and interacted with cadets. He also toured exhibition stalls showcasing initiatives such as the YUVA Aapda Mitra Scheme and drone training, and later witnessed a cultural programme presented by the cadets.
The event was attended by Director General NCC Lt Gen Virendra Vats, senior officials, instructors and cadets from across the country.
