Odisha to Secure Rights Over Mahanadi River Waters Soon: CM
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday assured that the state will soon secure its genuine rights over the Mahanadi River waters through a combination of legal and amicable solutions to the ongoing dispute with Chhattisgarh.
Majhi made the statement while replying to a written question from Congress MLA Taraprasad Bahinipati in the Odisha Assembly.
“Mahanadi is considered the lifeline of Odisha, and the state government, over the past one-and-a-half years, has been striving to resolve the water-sharing dispute through legal as well as amicable negotiations. Odisha will get its rights very soon,” the Chief Minister said.
The announcement underscores the state government’s commitment to protecting Odisha’s water resources and ensuring that the Mahanadi continues to support the livelihoods and development needs of the state.
