Randeep Hooda to Star in Military Drama ‘Operation Khukri’

Acclaimed actor Randeep Hooda is set to take on the lead role in Operation Khukri, an upcoming military drama inspired by one of the Indian Army’s most daring international peacekeeping missions.

Set against the backdrop of the year 2000, the film recounts the real-life rescue operation in Sierra Leone, West Africa, where 233 Indian soldiers were taken hostage by rebel forces during a UN peacekeeping mission. The gripping narrative follows the high-risk operation launched to free the trapped soldiers, showcasing courage, strategic brilliance, and survival against overwhelming odds.

Hooda will portray Major General Raj Pal Punia, who, as a young Company Commander of the 14th Mechanised Infantry, played a pivotal role in navigating the hostile situation and leading the dramatic rescue through dense jungle terrain and under intense enemy threat.
