WFI Exempts Olympic Quota Winners from Trials, to Assess Form in Hungary
The decision comes amidst unique circumstances, with WFI emphasizing that this exemption should not set a precedent for future selections. The federation clarified that any wrestler found lacking in fitness during assessments may face a replacement through trials before the July 8 deadline for submitting entries.
“This decision ensures that our Olympic quota winners are given appropriate preparation and evaluation opportunities ahead of international competitions,” stated WFI officials. The assessment in Hungary will play a crucial role in determining the final lineup for future tournaments.
The exemption from trials underscores WFI’s confidence in the capabilities of their quota winners, while also ensuring accountability towards maintaining competitive standards. Wrestlers will be closely monitored to ensure optimal readiness and performance readiness leading up to key events.
