‘War 2’ crosses ₹200 crore at Indian box office in first week

New Delhi: Superstar duo Jr NTR and Hrithik Roshan’s action thriller War 2 has stormed the Indian box office, crossing the ₹200 crore mark within its opening week.

Released on August 14, the film has become one of the biggest openers of 2025, drawing audiences with its high-octane action, star power, and gripping storyline. The film also features Kiara Advani in a pivotal role and is directed by Ayan Mukerji, who previously helmed hits like Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva.

A sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, which starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vaani Kapoor, the new installment sees Roshan reprise his role as RAW agent Kabir. Jr NTR’s addition to the franchise has created immense buzz, with fans lauding the chemistry and action sequences between the two leads.

Trade analysts said the film’s strong opening week collections underline the continued audience demand for large-scale action spectacles. With positive word-of-mouth and the upcoming festive weekend, War 2 is expected to continue its robust run at the box office.
