The bodies of two elderly men were recovered in Jiribam district on Tuesday morning, following a gunfight between suspected militants and security forces the previous day.

The victims, identified as Laishram Balen and Maibam Kesho, were found during a search operation for missing persons in the Jakuradhor Karong area. The area had been the site of intense violence on Monday, when suspected militants set fire to several shops.

A senior police officer confirmed that the elderly men likely perished in the aftermath of the attacks, as insurgents torched the shops in the area. The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region as authorities continue their search efforts in the wake of the violence.
