Turkish Airlines Directed to Meet Safety Standards

Civil Aviation Authorities Instruct Turkish Airlines to Comply with ICAO, DGCA Safety Standards
In a move to uphold aviation safety standards, India’s civil aviation authorities have directed Turkish Airlines to ensure full compliance with international and domestic aviation safety regulations. The directive follows a recent safety oversight and ramp (SOFA/RAMP) inspection conducted by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
According to an official statement from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the inspection was carried out between May 29 and June 2 across multiple Indian airports, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bengaluru. The review covered both passenger and cargo operations of Turkish Airlines.
The inspection was conducted under Article 16 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, which empowers member states to examine the operational safety and compliance of foreign aircraft within their jurisdiction.
“The objective of the inspection was to assess adherence to the safety norms outlined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and India’s own regulatory body, the DGCA,” the statement said.
The Ministry emphasized that the initiative is part of routine regulatory checks aimed at enhancing operational safety and ensuring that foreign airlines flying into India meet all safety obligations.
Turkish Airlines has been notified of the findings and directed to take any necessary corrective actions to align with ICAO standards and DGCA regulations. The airline has not yet issued a public statement in response to the directive.
The DGCA reiterated its commitment to maintaining high aviation safety standards in India and said it will continue to monitor compliance across all international carriers operating in the country.
