Tiger spotted in Bonai forest, Odisha

Tiger Spotted in Bonai Forest, Patrolling Stepped Up

Forest officials have confirmed the presence of a tiger in the Bonai forest of Sundargarh district, Odisha, after pugmarks and camera trap images of the big cat were recorded.

According to officials, pugmarks were first detected in the Sole reserve forest under Bonai division on August 25. Subsequent verification through camera traps confirmed the tiger’s movement in the area.

“The photographs clearly establish the presence of the tiger. Patrolling has been intensified and local villagers have been alerted to avoid venturing deep into the forest,” a senior forest official said.

This marks a significant sighting as tiger presence in the region has been rare in recent years. Authorities are closely monitoring the movement of the animal to ensure both wildlife protection and public safety.
