KIMS Faculty and PG Students Shine at IPHACON 2025
The Department of Community Medicine, Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), made a significant impact at IPHACON 2025, held from March 21 to 23 at JNMC, Belagavi. Faculty members and postgraduate students actively participated in various sessions, showcasing their research and expertise in public health.
Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar, Head of the Department of Community Medicine at KIMS, chaired the session on Environment and Health on March 21 at Dr. B. S. Kodkany Hall. The session featured distinguished speakers, including Dr. Saibal Adhya, Dr. Tanwi Trushna, Dr. Rajib Dasgupta, and Ms. Girika Sharma, who provided valuable insights into the intersection of environmental factors and public health.
Outstanding Research Presentations by KIMS Students
KIMS postgraduate students also made notable contributions with their research presentations:
- Dr. Angana Ray (3rd-year PG student) delivered an oral presentation on Socio-Clinical Determinants of Dengue Seroprevalence in Hot Spots of Eastern India, Bhubaneswar: To Target Mitigation Vaccination Strategies in Future. Her research, guided by Prof. (Dr.) Sonali Kar, received positive feedback for its valuable insights into dengue prevention strategies.
- Dr. Sumelika Das (2nd-year PG student) presented an oral paper titled Perception, Practices, and Barriers to Cervical Cancer Screening Among Women from Rural and Urban Slums of Eastern India: A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Study. The study, mentored by Dr. Geeta Chand Acharya and Prof. (Dr.) Ipsita Debata, highlighted critical issues in cervical cancer screening uptake.
