Tata Power Invests Over Rs 4,200 Crore in Odisha’s Power Network Expansion and Upgrade

Tata Power-led power distribution companies (Discoms) have significantly bolstered Odisha’s power infrastructure with an investment of Rs 4,245 crore over the past three to four years. This substantial financial commitment has been directed towards infrastructure expansion and network upgrades, enhancing the reliability and efficiency of power distribution across the state.

The company manages four Discoms in collaboration with the Odisha government: TP Central Odisha Distribution (TPCODL), TP Western Odisha Distribution (TPWODL), TP Southern Odisha Distribution (TPSODL), and TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL). Together, these entities serve a vast customer base of over 9 million.

A considerable portion of this investment, Rs 1,232 crore, has been sourced from various government-backed schemes. This funding has facilitated the installation of 2,177 circuit kilometers (Ckms) of 33 kilovolt (KV) lines and 19,809 Ckms of 11 KV lines. Additionally, the network’s reliability has been further strengthened with the addition of 30,230 distribution transformers, benefiting both rural and urban areas across Odisha.
