Sustaining 7–8% growth govt’s top priority: FM
Sustaining an annual economic growth rate of 7–8 per cent remains the government’s top priority as it will generate employment opportunities and ensure benefits reach all sections of society, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday.
Interacting with college students from different parts of the country after the presentation of the Union Budget 2026–27, Sitharaman said strong and consistent economic growth is essential for inclusive development.
“If growth is good, its fruits will reach all citizens,” the Finance Minister said, emphasising that higher growth leads to greater job creation and improved livelihoods.
She also highlighted the role of young people in nation-building and encouraged students to actively engage with economic policies and reforms shaping the country’s future.
