Sujeet Kalkal storms into 65kg final at U23 World Wrestling Championships

Indian wrestler Sujeet Kalkal showcased remarkable grit and composure as he stormed into the men’s freestyle 65kg final at the U23 World Wrestling Championships, pulling off a last-gasp victory over Japan’s Yuto Nishiuchi.
In a tightly contested semifinal bout, Sujeet trailed for most of the match, with Nishiuchi keeping the Indian grappler at bay through strong defense and control. However, in the dying seconds of the clash, Sujeet turned the tables with a spectacular double-leg attack, executing a two-point throw just three seconds before the final hooter to seal a 3-2 win.
The dramatic turnaround not only showcased Sujeet’s technical skill but also his mental resilience under pressure. His victory ensures India a place in the gold medal bout, adding to the nation’s growing prominence in the global wrestling arena.
Sujeet will now fight for the 65kg title, aiming to add another gold to India’s tally at the championship and further strengthen the country’s reputation in freestyle wrestling.
