Subhadra Yojana Transforms Women’s Lives: CM

Subhadra Yojana Sparks Revolution in Odisha: CM Majhi

Bhubaneswar – Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi hailed the Subhadra Yojana as a transformative initiative, calling it a revolution in Odisha that is empowering women across the state. Speaking at an event in Ambapua, Berhampur, on the occasion of the 51st International Women’s Day, Majhi distributed the second installment of financial aid under the scheme to 1,00,64,000 women.

Majhi emphasized that in just nine months, the new government has paved the way for financial independence for over one crore women in Odisha. “Every mother has received Rs. 10,000 in two installments. This is one of the happiest and most glorious days of my tenure as Chief Minister,” he stated.

Criticizing the previous BJD government, Majhi asserted that women’s empowerment remained a mere slogan for 24 years. “We implemented the historic Subhadra Yojana within 24 minutes of coming to power. It began working within three months, and today, more than one crore women have received their second installment,” he said. Majhi further challenged his predecessors, stating, “What you could not achieve in 24 years, we have accomplished in just nine months.”

He also took a firm stance against violence and misconduct toward women, asserting that such offenders have no place in society and belong behind bars. He assured strict enforcement of measures to ensure women’s safety.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to financial empowerment, Majhi spoke about the ‘Lakshapati Didi’ scheme, which aims to make women economically self-reliant. Odisha has secured the second position in India in implementing this initiative, with five lakh women already attaining ‘lakhpati’ status. The goal is to enable at least 25 lakh women in Odisha to achieve this milestone by 2027.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Parvathi Parida reaffirmed the government’s commitment to women’s welfare, stating that the Subhadra Yojana has already benefited over one crore women. “We promised to empower women, and we have delivered within just eight months,” she said.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated development projects worth over Rs. 638 crore in Ganjam district, further reinforcing the government’s focus on the state’s progress and welfare.
