Sreeja Akula Outclasses Kallberg to Enter Round of 32 at Paris Olympics

PARIS: India’s top-ranked table tennis player Sreeja Akula secured a spot in the round of 32 with a decisive 4-0 win over Sweden’s Christina Kallberg at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Sreeja, who made history as the first Indian paddler to win a WTT Contender singles title, dominated the match with scores of 11-4, 11-9, 11-7, 11-8, securing her victory in just 30 minutes.

The Indian ace faced little resistance in the first set but was tested in the subsequent sets by Kallberg. Despite the Swede’s efforts to challenge her, Sreeja’s precision and skill ensured she maintained control and closed out the match efficiently.

With this win, Sreeja advances to the next round, continuing her impressive run at the Olympics and bolstering hopes for a strong finish in the competition.
