Shruti Haasan Says Father Kamal Haasan Sparked Her Love for Music

Actor-musician Shruti Haasan has credited her legendary father, Kamal Haasan, for inspiring her early love for music. Recalling her childhood, Shruti said music was always an integral part of her home, with her father constantly singing and creating playful games that nurtured her creativity.

“I think my interest in music was born from my dad singing around the house,” she said. “My mom is a great connoisseur of music and always played music at home. My dad would be singing, and his games were super creative. He would say, ‘Come, let’s talk in a language that doesn’t exist and then turn it into a song.’”

Shruti, who has successfully balanced careers in both acting and music, said that this unique musical environment shaped her artistic sensibilities. While her mother, actress Sarika, introduced her to the finer nuances of listening and appreciating music, her father instilled in her the joy of performance and experimentation.
