Sensex, Nifty Extend Gains Second Day

Indian equity benchmarks extended their rally for a second consecutive session on Tuesday, supported by strong buying in banking, IT and capital goods stocks.

The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 173.81 points, or 0.21 per cent, to close at 83,450.96. During the trading session, the index touched an intra-day high of 83,598 and a low of 82,987.43, reflecting steady investor interest despite intermittent volatility.

Similarly, the 50-share NSE Nifty gained 42.65 points, or 0.17 per cent, to settle at 25,725.40, supported by buying momentum in frontline stocks.

Market participants said positive sentiment in banking and information technology counters lifted the benchmarks, while capital goods shares also witnessed sustained demand. Analysts noted that consistent inflows and selective sectoral buying helped the indices maintain their upward trajectory for the second straight day.

Broader market trends remained mixed, with investors closely tracking global cues and domestic economic indicators for further direction.
