Satwik-Chirag Duo Reaches Paris Olympics Men’s Doubles Quarterfinals

Satwik-Chirag Pair Advances to Men’s Doubles Quarterfinals at Paris Olympics

Paris: The Indian men’s doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the Paris Olympics. The qualification comes with one group match still remaining, following the withdrawal of one pair and the loss of another.

Rankireddy and Shetty, currently ranked world number three, were scheduled to compete against the German duo of Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel on Monday. However, the match was cancelled due to Lamsfuss’s withdrawal from the tournament due to injury.

According to the BWF General Competition Regulations for group-stage play, all results involving Lamsfuss and Seidel will be considered “deleted.” Consequently, points from matches played against the German pair will not be counted, effectively confirming the Indian team’s progression to the next stage.

This advancement marks a significant achievement for Rankireddy and Shetty as they continue their campaign towards a medal at the Paris Olympics.
