Rishab Shetty clarifies ‘Kantara’ not ideological

Rishab Shetty Says ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Not Promoting Any Ideology

Actor-director Rishab Shetty has clarified that his blockbuster film “Kantara: Chapter 1” is not intended to promote any ideology or political viewpoint, but to tell a powerful story deeply rooted in faith, folklore, and human emotion.

Set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, the Kannada-language film delves into the conflict between the tribals of the Kantara forest and a tyrannical king, exploring themes of spirituality, nature worship, and cultural identity. Since its release on October 2, the film has become a global sensation, grossing Rs 600 crore worldwide.

Speaking about his creative intent, Shetty said, “As a storyteller, I always think I should never be biased. We should tell stories that reflect our folklore, Bharatiyata, and belief systems like nature worship. By blending all these elements, we created this story.”

The director added that “Kantara: Chapter 1” aims to celebrate the universality of faith and human connection, transcending regional or ideological boundaries.

The film, a prequel to Shetty’s 2022 hit “Kantara”, continues to receive acclaim for its immersive storytelling, powerful performances, and evocative portrayal of indigenous traditions.
