Ranji Trophy: Services Pull Off Historic Chase; J&K Storm into Quarterfinals

Services scripted history on Sunday by achieving the second-highest successful run-chase in Ranji Trophy history, defeating Odisha by 10 wickets in their Group A clash. Openers Shubham Rohilla and Suraj Vashisht played sensational knocks to power their team to a remarkable victory at Barabati Stadium, while Jammu and Kashmir stormed into the quarterfinals with a commanding win over Baroda.

Chasing a daunting target of 376, Services’ opening duo put on a record-breaking unbroken partnership. Rohilla led the charge with a magnificent 209*, while Vashisht complemented him with a superb 154*, steering Services to victory without losing a wicket. Their extraordinary stand ensured that Services completed the chase in style, marking one of the greatest batting performances in Ranji Trophy history.

Meanwhile, in Vadodara, Jammu and Kashmir continued their fairytale run, following up their historic victory over 42-time champions Mumbai with a resounding 182-run win over Baroda. Their bowlers produced a clinical display to dismantle the opposition, securing a well-deserved place in the quarterfinals.

Services’ chase stands as the second-highest successful run-chase in Ranji Trophy history, only behind the 410-run chase achieved by Assam against Services in the 2008-09 season.

With their emphatic performances, both Services and Jammu and Kashmir have made strong statements in this Ranji season, setting up an exciting knockout stage ahead.
