Ranendra Pratap Swain Sworn in as Pro-tem Speaker of Odisha Assembly

BHUBANESWAR: Ranendra Pratap Swain, an eight-time MLA from Odisha, was sworn in as the Pro-tem Speaker of the state assembly on Friday. The oath was administered by Governor Raghubar Das at the Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was in attendance to witness the ceremony. Swain, who has had a distinguished political career, expressed his gratitude, stating, “I was appointed as the Pro-tem Speaker on the recommendation of the Chief Minister.”
The role of the Pro-tem Speaker is crucial as it involves presiding over the assembly’s initial meetings until a permanent speaker is elected. Swain’s extensive experience is expected to bring valuable insight and stability to the assembly proceedings during this transitional period.
