President Murmu Addresses Parliament on Constitution Day; Launches Digital Versions of Constitution in Nine Languages
President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, addressed Members of both Houses of Parliament today in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan, commemorating the 11th Samvidhan Divas. The event was graced by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, Leaders of Opposition in both Houses, Union Ministers, and other dignitaries.
Delivering the welcome address, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla highlighted that India’s Constitution has transformed the country’s rich diversity into a unified national identity rooted in shared democratic values. He paid tribute to Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, chief architect of the Constitution, and all Members of the Constituent Assembly for their vision and tireless efforts.
Shri Birla emphasized that over the past seven decades, India has emerged as one of the world’s most vibrant and resilient democracies, guided by constitutional principles of justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity. He called upon citizens, especially the youth, to uphold constitutional values and work toward building a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
As part of the celebrations, President Murmu digitally released translations of the Constitution of India in nine languages — Malayalam, Marathi, Nepali, Punjabi, Bodo, Kashmiri, Telugu, Odia, and Assamese. She also led a collective reading of the Preamble, reaffirming the nation’s faith in the Constitution and democratic values.
The solemn occasion underscored India’s collective commitment to constitutional ideals and the shared responsibility of every citizen in nation-building.
