PARIS: Indian boxer Preeti Pawar triumphed over Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Anh in the women’s 54kg category first-round bout, securing her spot in the pre-quarterfinals at the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
Competing in her debut Olympic Games, the 20-year-old Asian Games bronze medallist from Haryana delivered a remarkable performance, winning 5-0 on points. Despite a slow start, where Vo Thi Kim Anh dominated the first round, Preeti made a strong comeback in the subsequent rounds. She adjusted her strategy, becoming more aggressive and landing clear, effective blows to gain a decisive victory.
