PM Modi Lauds 11-Year Defence Growth

PM Modi Hails 11 Years of Unprecedented Growth in Defence Sector
New Delhi, June 10 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday lauded the significant strides India has made in the defence sector over the past 11 years, describing the progress as “unprecedented” and a testament to the nation’s commitment to self-reliance and modernization.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister responded to a message by MyGovIndia highlighting the achievements in defence, stating: “The last 11 years have marked significant changes in our Defence sector with a clear focus on both modernisation and becoming self-reliant when it comes to Defence production. It is gladdening to see how the people of India have come together with the resolve of making India stronger! #11YearsOfRakshaShakti”
Modi emphasized that India’s journey in defence over the last decade has been guided by a vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), with concrete policy initiatives to boost indigenous manufacturing, innovation, and technological advancement in defence equipment and infrastructure.
He credited the collective will of the Indian people and the determination of the government for transforming India into a rising force in global defence production. “Over the past 11 years, India has witnessed remarkable advancements in its Defence sector, marked by a clear focus on modernisation and self-reliance in Defence production,” he said.
The government’s push for domestic manufacturing has led to a steady reduction in defence imports and increased investment in homegrown technologies, including fighter jets, missiles, naval assets, and advanced surveillance systems. Defence exports have also reached new highs, with Indian-made equipment being supplied to several countries.
With continued policy reforms, partnerships with the private sector, and support for start-ups under the iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) initiative, India is rapidly positioning itself as a global defence manufacturing hub.
The Prime Minister’s remarks reflect the growing pride in India’s defence achievements, as the nation continues to reinforce its strategic capabilities while contributing to global peace and security.
