Playing Carlsen in His Home Turf Not a Challenge: Praggnanandhaa
Young Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa exudes confidence as he gears up to face multiple-time world champion Magnus Carlsen on his home turf during the Norway Chess tournament, set to commence on May 27.
Having defeated Carlsen several times in the past few years, including a recent victory in the Superbet Rapid and Blitz tournament in Warsaw, Praggnanandhaa believes he will not be under any additional pressure.
“I don’t think playing Magnus in his home turf is a challenge for me. Usually, it matters to the player playing in his home, but it won’t matter so much for me,” stated Praggnanandhaa.
The 33-year-old Carlsen, known for his formidable presence in the chess world, will face a determined and composed Praggnanandhaa, who has proven his mettle against top-tier opponents. The young grandmaster’s calm demeanor and recent successes indicate a promising performance in the upcoming tournament.
Adding to the excitement, Praggnanandhaa’s sister, R. Vaishali, will also be participating in the Norway Chess Women’s Tournament for the first time, marking a significant moment for the siblings in their chess careers.
As the Norway Chess tournament approaches, all eyes will be on Praggnanandhaa and his anticipated face-off with Carlsen, highlighting a new chapter in the ongoing rivalry between the young prodigy and the seasoned champion.
