Pitambar Acharya Appointed New Advocate General of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Senior advocate Pitambar Acharya has been appointed as the new Advocate General of Odisha, effective immediately. The announcement was made on Friday by the Governor of Odisha in accordance with Clause (1) of Article 165 of the Indian Constitution.
Acharya, renowned for his role in advocating for the reopening of the Ratna Bhandar of the Jagannath Temple, will assume his new position as the chief legal advisor to the state government. At 59, Acharya brings a wealth of experience to the role, having also made headlines in 2019 for contesting the assembly elections as a BJP candidate against then-Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the Hinjili constituency.
The appointment of Acharya to this prestigious position reflects his significant legal expertise and his prominent role in Odisha’s legal and political landscape.
