IAS Officer Nikhil Pavan Kalyan Appointed Director of Census Operations in Odisha

The Central Government has appointed IAS officer Nikhil Pavan Kalyan as the new Director of Census Operations (DCO) and Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) for Odisha, an official confirmed on Tuesday.

A directive issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday instructed the Odisha government to immediately relieve Kalyan from his current duties, enabling him to take charge of this important assignment.

Kalyan, a 2012-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, will serve in this dual role until December 31, 2025, or until further orders, as per the DoPT’s communication to the Odisha Chief Secretary.

The appointment comes at a crucial time, with preparatory activities for the next Census and citizen registration processes expected to gain momentum in the coming months.
