Passenger Vehicle Sales Dip Slightly: SIAM

Domestic Passenger Vehicle Sales Dip Marginally in May; Overall Vehicle Dispatches Up: SIAM

Domestic passenger vehicle (PV) wholesales recorded a slight decline of 0.8% in May 2025, with a total of 3,44,656 units dispatched, compared to 3,47,492 units in the same month last year, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Monday.

Despite the marginal dip in the PV segment, the overall performance of the auto industry remained stable, bolstered by growth in other categories.

Two-wheeler dispatches saw a modest increase of 2.2%, reaching 16,55,927 units in May 2025, up from 16,20,084 units in May 2024. The segment continues to show resilience, reflecting steady demand in the personal mobility space.

Total vehicle wholesales across all categories witnessed a year-on-year growth of 1.8%, standing at 20,12,969 units last month, compared to 19,76,674 units in May 2024.

SIAM noted that the industry is navigating a phase of consolidation with stable trends across categories, and manufacturers are cautiously optimistic going forward, considering evolving consumer sentiment and macroeconomic indicators.
