Over 3 Lakh Anganwadi Workers Trained

Over 36,000 Master Trainers, 3 Lakh Anganwadi Workers Trained Under Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi Initiative
The Government of India’s Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB) initiative, launched on May 10, 2023, has successfully trained 36,027 State Level Master Trainers and 3,11,299 Anganwadi Workers across the country, strengthening early childhood care, education, and nutrition services for children under six years, including children with disabilities.
The initiative aims to transform Anganwadi centers into learning hubs with improved infrastructure, play equipment, and well-trained functionaries. Training is conducted through a Two-Tier Implementation Model, with NIPCCD overseeing capacity building via its headquarters in New Delhi and five regional centers.
Under Tier I, State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs), including CDPOs, Supervisors, and Additional Resource Persons, undergo two-day hybrid training. Tier II extends to a three-day physical workshop conducted by SLMTs for Anganwadi workers nationwide.
To enhance early childhood learning, the government has introduced two curriculum frameworks:
- Navchetana: A National Framework for Early Childhood Stimulation (0-3 years) supporting caregivers in brain development, disability screening, and early stimulation activities.
- Aadharshila: A National Curriculum for Early Childhood Care and Education (3-6 years), focusing on competency-based learning, indigenous toys, and cost-effective teaching methods.
Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Smt. Savitri Thakur, shared this progress in Rajya Sabha, underscoring the government’s commitment to holistic child development through integrated learning and nutrition.
