Over 10,000 People Shifted in Odisha Ahead of Missile Test

In preparation for a scheduled missile test, the Balasore district administration has temporarily relocated over 10,000 residents from ten villages. The move is aimed at ensuring safety and minimizing risks associated with the missile launch, an official confirmed on Tuesday.

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has finalized the necessary range preparations for the missile test at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur. A defence source stated that all essential measures have been completed to facilitate the test, which is set to take place from launch pad number 3 of the ITR.

“The relocation of villagers is a precautionary step to ensure their safety during the missile test. We are providing all necessary support and facilities to the relocated residents,” said a district administration official.

The missile test, conducted by the DRDO, is part of India’s ongoing efforts to advance its defence capabilities. The authorities have assured the public that the relocation is temporary and that residents will be able to return to their homes once the test is completed and the area is deemed safe.
