Ola Electric Launches Bharat Cell, Ferrite Tech

Ola Electric Unveils Indigenous ‘Bharat Cell’, Ferrite Motor Tech to Cut Rare Earth Dependence
Ola Electric has announced a major push towards self-reliance in electric vehicle (EV) technology under its Gen 3 initiative, unveiling plans for an indigenously developed Bharat Cell and AI-powered MoveOS software.
Speaking at the company’s annual Sankalp event themed “India Inside” at its Krishnagiri factory, founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said Ola has also begun developing Ferrite motor technology aimed at replacing rare earth magnets in its products.
“We started Ola Electric four years ago. Today, we will show you the vision for a New India — a strong, self-sufficient India in the electric vehicle space. We want to be the number one electric vehicle company in the world,” Aggarwal said.
The Bharat Cell project is expected to strengthen India’s EV supply chain by reducing reliance on imported components, while the alternative motor technology could address supply and sustainability concerns linked to rare earth materials.
Ola Electric’s Gen 3 programme is part of its broader strategy to make India a global leader in sustainable mobility.
