Odisha Vigilance Arrests Six Officials on Corruption Charges
The Odisha Vigilance Department on Saturday arrested six government officials from various locations on corruption charges, an official confirmed. The arrests were made during vigilance operations conducted in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Rourkela, and Berhampur.
Among those arrested are:
✅ A Revenue Inspector
✅ Four former Secretaries of three Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS)
✅ The Managing Director of a Large-Area Multipurpose Society (LAMPS)
According to vigilance officials, Bhubaneswar Sahu, Bhagaban Patel, Chhabila Behera, and Kantilal Bhoi were taken into custody for allegedly embezzling ₹64.13 lakh from their respective agriculture cooperative societies.
The arrested officials are accused of bribery and misappropriation of government funds, with further investigations underway to uncover the full extent of the financial irregularities. The Odisha Vigilance Department has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on corruption and financial misconduct in government institutions.
