Odisha to Plant 75 Lakh Saplings

Odisha to Plant 75 Lakh Saplings on PM Modi’s 75th Birthday
The Odisha government on Thursday announced a massive green initiative to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17 by planting 75 lakh saplings across the state under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, in an official statement, said the plantation drive will be carried out as a gesture of gratitude to the Prime Minister for his continuous support and commitment to the development of Odisha.
“In recognition of PM Modi’s dedication to Odisha’s progress and his goodwill towards the people, we will plant 75 lakh trees across the state in a single day. This initiative will be the people’s heartfelt gift to the Prime Minister,” Majhi said.
The plantation drive will be conducted in both rural and urban areas, involving schoolchildren, government employees, voluntary organisations, and citizens at large. The Chief Minister urged everyone to participate actively in the campaign and contribute to environmental conservation.
The ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, launched by PM Modi in 2023, encourages individuals to plant at least one tree in honor of their mothers, symbolizing a personal commitment to environmental responsibility.
The initiative is expected to significantly boost green cover in Odisha and spread awareness about sustainable living and climate action.
