Odisha Targets Delivery Speeding With Advisory

Odisha to Issue Advisory for Delivery Platforms to Curb Reckless Driving
In a move aimed at improving road safety, the Odisha government has decided to issue an advisory to online delivery platforms and service aggregators, urging strict compliance with traffic norms by delivery personnel.
Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena on Thursday said the decision comes in response to growing concerns over reckless driving by delivery agents under pressure to meet stringent deadlines. “Delivery executives are often seen speeding, risking not only their own lives but also the safety of other commuters,” Jena said.
The upcoming advisory will call upon delivery companies to ensure that their employees and partners do not violate speed limits or other traffic regulations in the name of fast service. The minister made it clear that road safety rules apply to everyone, regardless of profession.
“If anyone is found violating traffic norms, they will face hefty penalties,” Jena warned, underlining the government’s zero-tolerance approach toward dangerous driving behavior.
The move has been welcomed by traffic authorities and citizen safety groups, who have long expressed concern over the rising number of accidents involving delivery personnel. The state transport department is expected to work closely with major service providers to implement the advisory effectively.
